Pencils are an artists best friend! Read here about my favorites.
I've bought a bunch of new mechanical pencils, because I use different colour leads and it's nice to keep drawing without switching. Here are the ones that I have chosen.
Uni-ball Kuru Toga
This pencil has a lead rotation mechanism that continually rotates the pencil lead as you write. Sounds interesting right? The feature is quite nice, it will give you sharp lines all the time. The only thing I don't like about Uni-ball is that their material feels light and cheap. The cap on the back is made from plastic, not from steel... Also, there is no hardness indicator or a retractable tip.
Pentel Orenz 0.2
I love this mechanical pencil ! It's the smallest size available and great for details. I was so happy with this pencil, that I've ordered another one for a softer lead. You have to be careful with drawing, because smaller leads will break easily. The lead guide pipe can be pulled back, so it stays protected in my pencil case after use, which is a great plus!
Zebra Delguard 0.5
In pink and blue. I've bought these ones for my blue and red leads, but I won't recommend them. The body is made from plastic and broke after a couple of weeks. Even the colour of the body fades away...These pencils have an 'anti-break' mechanism, I notice a little bounce, but colour leads are very fragile, so they will break when you push too hard.
Pentel graphgear 1000
This is my favorite pencil! It has everything I'm looking for in a pencil. Grip in the front, sturdy material, a fully retractable tip (important to keep the tip save from bending) and a binder clip that you can clip onto thick objects if you need to. Perfect! It's a little bit more expensive than the other Pentel pencils, but this is really worth it if you ask me.
Pentel graphgear 600
So the difference between the Pentel graphgear 1000 and this one, is the price and a few things: they don't have a binder clip for thick objects and it doesn't have a fully retractable tip. However, I love them as backup pencils, for extra leads. The quality is very good....and to be honest, I just wanted to have a minty green pencil! I definitely recommend this one.
